Life at the Visual Arts Department

A Royal Art Visit to the Palace

On Tuesday 11th February 2025, Eastbrook School Year 9 artists were given a unique opportunity to view and draw from some of the oldest Renaissance artworks owned by the Crown, on display at the King's Gallery at Buckingham Palace.

Unfortunately, King Charles and Queen Camilla were not able to meet them on the day. However, the visit was just as special for our students, as they were able to see some extremely rare and never-before-seen drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci, Michaelangelo, Titian and other great Renaissance artists. Students took part in a drawing masterclass from one of the royal artists, visited the prestigious royal gift shop and, of course, created TikToks in front of the Palace!

The staff at the King's Gallery were very complimentary of the impeccable behaviour and manners of our students, and the artist facilitator Caroline was extremely impressed by the high quality of our students' drawings. Well done Year 9s on another fantastic visual arts educational visit – we are PROUD TO BE Eastbrook!

Visual Arts Black Excellence Competition 2024

Every year our Visual Arts department holds a portrait competition for Key Stage 3 students to celebrate an important member of the global majority community. This year, we were inundated with so many fantastic entries; the competition was fierce! We are pleased to announce that Isabella in 7F, Illyeen in 7D and Skylar in 7A are the overall winners this year's competition and have been awarded a Headteacher's prize for their amazing portraits. Well done Year 7s - we are PROUD!
