Eastbrook Orator Impresses Judges at Jack Petchey Speak Out Challenge

Our talented Eastbrook Orators recently participated in the Barking & Dagenham Regional Final of Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge, the largest public speaking programme in England!

Jack Petchey's Speak Out Challenge aims to amplify young voices by building confidence and developing communication skills. The programme provides free communication skills training to Year 10 students in every state school in London and Essex, empowering over 30,000 young people each year.

As victors of last year’s challenge, Eastbrook School hosted the event, which saw 14 talented young speakers compete for top honours. The MC for the evening was Eastbrook's very own Wazid, who seamlessly introduced the various speakers and reflected on his own experiences of winning the competition in 2024.

One Year 10 participant, Muhammad, delivered a speech titled "Believing in Others," which emphasised the transformative power of self-belief and empowering others through kindness and encouragement. This message resonated with the audience and judges, earning Muhammad the Runner Up position in the competition. Reflecting on the experience, Muhammad expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you to everyone for believing in an immigrant and giving him a chance." This heartfelt sentiment highlights the inclusive and supportive nature of the Speak Out Challenge.

Another Eastbrook participant Amena should also be congratulated for her exceptional and impassioned speech titled "Feminism is for Everyone,"  which impressed judges and audiences alike. Other highlights from the evening included the wonderful musical entertainment provided by Sebastian on piano, and the singing trio Blessing, Anayah and Esther.

Eastbrook is PROUD of all of you, and all those who came out to support our impressive speakers and performers.
