Jack Petchey Success
We were proud to celebrate the achievements of our students at the Jack Petchey Achievement Awards night for Barking and Dagenham on Tuesday evening. This event recognized the outstanding contributions and achievements of students across the borough, and Eastbrook School was well-represented.
A special congratulations goes to Year 8 students Omar and Huzaifa, who were both honoured for their remarkable accomplishments. Head of Year Miss Harper was delighted to see two of our own Year 8 students among those being celebrated for their hard work and dedication. Their achievements serve as a reminder of the potential and excellence that exist within our school community.
Omar was the recipient of the Environmental Award for his idea for the school to build a compost area, fruit and vegetable and herb garden. Omar's idea involved using the compost area and came up with the following: we could put any thrown away food or food that has gone off into the compost bins, as well as any food scraps from the Food department or kitchen. His reasoning as to why this would help both the environment and the school was that we would be reducing food waste, cutting down on greenhouse gases as well as helping the school economy. Students will also learn more about healthy eating and ways that they can also help keep the school environment clean.
Eastbrook School will be making a positive impact on the community and understanding how this change can bring about a fruitful environmental change.
Huzaifa was a recipient for the Outstanding Achiever award for his dedication and fantastic academic progress in English. Huzaifa is a hard worker and dedicated to his studies. Teachers have commented on what fantastic progress he has made and is working at a level which is above a beyond what is expected of a Year 8 student.
Congratulations Omar and Huzaifa – we are extremely PROUD of you!
