The Circulatory System
During their science lessons this half-term, students have been learning about how the circulatory system in the body works.
The children have learnt that the heart is the engine of the body, pumping blood around the body, they were able to recognise and name the different chambers of the heart and reproduce a model using collage or in plasticine media.
Later, the children demonstrated their knowledge of blood, producing pie charts to show the composition, described what each component (plasma, white blood cells etc) does and devised scientific experiments based on flow of blood in veins, arteries and capillaries.
Finally, students showcased their knowledge of the circulatory system by producing an informative double page spread in their books, complete with sub-headings, sketches, diagrams and explanations of the different systems. Their work is displayed in the corridor, outside their classroom and looks amazing! Well done Year 6 on demonstrating our virtues of creativity, critical thinking, teamwork and zest, to name a few – we are PROUD!
