Imperial War Museum Visit

31 Oct

In October 2024, pupils in Year 6 visited the Imperial War Museum to support their learning about World War II. They were amazed when they entered the main atrium and saw the tanks, aeroplanes and cars from the many wars! Pupils were inquisitive and loved the hands on experiences of hiding in an air raid shelter, typing on an enigma machine, listening to war broadcasts on an old radio and dressing up in 1940s clothing.

One of the most immersive experiences was walking through a replica trench on the front line, planes and shadows whirred over their heads, the sounds of machine guns popped and even leaning against the walls, they could hear soldiers voices whispering to each other. The visit enabled pupils to learn more and know more about World War II and really brought learning about History to life!
