GCSE Photography students were treated to a surprise “Meet the Professionals” visit by Abbie Trayler-Smith, an award winning photographer. Abbie is a British documentary and portrait photographer who contributed to the Daily Telegraph for eight years from 1998, covering the war in Iraq and the Asian tsunami. She has won prizes in the Taylor Wessing Photography competition in 2010 and 2017 with her portraits “Chelsea” and “Fleeing Mosul”. Abbie presented her portfolio of work and answered a range of intelligent questions from inquisitive students, ranging from technical and compositional tips to what it is like working in a war zone.
The photography department would like to thank Abbie for giving up her time to share her expertise with us and we hope to see her again soon.
